Cartoons and comics are a major part of North American Culture. We use them as literature, to talk about politics, and to express ourselves. This week I’m drawing a cartoon comic of my family. In the end, I found my personal style shone through the brightest, more so than I had anticipated. I orignially wanted this piece to resemble something from an old Betty Boop or Disney animation. There are some elements that could translate, but overall I found it was (fittingly) more my style than not. Take a look!

Man Riley, your artistic abilities continue to impress me! Cartoon style art has always been very entertaining and beautiful to me, I grew up watching the bugs bunny and tweety show and reading Garfield so I have a lot of appreciation for it. My aunt was a Disney animator so looking at her sketches growing up was inspiring. The Disney inspiration can definitely be seen in the cartoon you have drawn, reminds me of my childhood so evokes a huge amount of emotion more than just beauty.
